Air Con control swap

Post by DODO`` »

Hey guys!

Before I start taking the cars apart I want to ask and see what actually is involved in replacing the electrical climate control to manual 3 dial control.

So what parts actually need to be swaped other than the controls?
and what needs to be removed to actually get to the parts that needs to be swaped?

I'm actually downgrading by loosing the automatic climate control option but I just love the looks of manual control too much :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani: :cyclopsani:

Let me know and thank you gurus in advance! :salut:

There's a ton of fiddly cabling & sh*t in there, hence no one has ever done it.

Still would love to know what actual parts are involved though..
Anyone here actually know what actual "f**king around" is needed?

Everything AC related. All the boxes behind the dash, all the cables and bits n pieces. Pretty much everything. I looked into it before but to go the opposite way to what you want.

Not worth the effort.

Yeah, I wanted to try and get the climate control into my version R as well. Even started pulling apart a wiring loom to try and work out if I could splice it in. After an hour and hundreds of wires later, gave that up as a nightmare.

Yeah but why would you want to go from a full climate control unit to a basic A/C system? That's like saying I want to make less power

Nah, I get it. Would consider doing the same thing myself now. Less that can go wrong.
