Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Have to be patient though.

Should be picking it up on Friday and then I'll need to put 1000 kms on it.

So final tune happen after that so it'll will depend on how long it takes for me to cover that ground.

heh, probably not advisable whilst doing break-in kms.

Anyways, got delayed a week, seems like the Elite 1500 can't handle running both MIVEC solenoids, so bumping up to the 2500 and getting two wideband O2 sensors fitted with the additional inputs available.
Also upgrading the idle speed control motor to a haltech unit, not getting enough control from the stock ISC with the twin TBs.

Heard the car fire up last Friday though, its still sounds like a 6A12, just meaner =)
Seeing the Elite adjusting fuel trims on the fly is also pretty neat.

Great thing is that dialing the fuel trims in while I'm driving means less dyno time.

So close =P

What? I'm running both MIVEC solenoids off a PS1000.

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly why it wasn't working out.

David can verify what was happening, rather than me just hazarding a guess and getting it totally wrong.

Any Haltech can control the mivec solenoids, the issue is we ran out of inputs / outputs on an Elite 1500 and we only had 1 output left to control two solenoids and the haltech cannot earth out both on one circuit.

Funny enough, the Sports 1000 system actually has 2 extra outputs the Elite 1500 doesn't have. That is because they used those two circuits for the drive by wire control on the elite series.

Regardless, the car runs better on the Elite 2500 smoother idle and with the duel channel wide bands, its correcting air fuel ratio on each bank independently of each other which is brilliant.

Been driving the car for the last two days and got the idle mostly worked out now, lots of fine adjustments allowing for electrical load, thermo fan load all based against coolant temperature etc.

But drives lovely, surprisingly well mannered will cruise at 1800 rpm in 5th gear like a normal FTO, the only thing that gives it away is the 1250rpm idle and that noisy intake manifold which is acting like an amplifier of all the engine noise.

Thinking tappet adjust in 1000km will help smooth things out some more and drop the noise level down as well.

But loving driving the car - I am sure Eric will tell you all about it on the weekend :)

I used a solid state relay and ran both solenoids off of a single output.

That's one way to do it - we wired it up though with a plug and play harness so there are no actually changes to any of the factory wiring. Keeps it looking "Stockish" in the engine bay :)

Yeah I made my own plug and play patch loom. No modifications to stock loom.

I was happy to move up to 2500, gives us more room to move down the track.

Would rather pay for the 2500 once than get a 1500, then pay for the upgrade later on.

Already getting benefits with the wide bands in play now.

I would like to see someone run a Microtech just out of my own curiosity. I know generally Haltech is much better for 4 stroke motors, but still curious.

Your comparing a computer system designed in the 80's with a system designed in 2015 :) There not even in the same ball park.

Which Microtech are you referring to? Microtech has improved a lot recently, they now have E85 compatibility throughout their range. I know Halaltech has been doing it for a long time, I'd just be curious to see the difference.

I had an LT10S in my FC RX7 and it was great for basic tuning. I'm building a forged 1L motor for my little Mira and leaning towards Haltech this time.

I like that Haltech has stupid amounts of extras in there like launch control and stuff.

I'm trying to decide between an elite 2500 and a link g4+, they so damn similar now...

Haltech V Link G4 - no veritable difference, main focus is the Haltech Self learning features on fuel, knock, idle and boost control features. I also prefer the Haltech interface which I feel is more user friendly.

But ultimately I love both systems (As I am both a Haltech and Link Dealer).

With regards to the Haltech V Microtech -without going into huge details the latest Microtech is still only barely matching that of a Haltech E8 / PS1000 system of 10 years ago :)

All cheap ECU's WOlf, EMS etc all do flex fuel E85, nothing special there any more.

Its not about the final power, most systems will make the same peak power, the differences is all about driveability, stability of tune, mid range power levels to say the least.

If we want an frank and open discussion on the variations in aftermarket ECU's I am happy to answer questions etc - but lets leave this to another thread and not get distracted on Eric's work in progress :)

My bad

I'm interested to see final tune and also excited for some corn juice action. Finally someone with a set of cams that are set up properly! I noticed you guys have done valve work as well, are you planning on bumping up the rev limiter? (Sorry if I missed that post, had a read through and can't find anything on it)

All good. :)
Does deserve a separate thread but it's interesting stuff.

I'm thinking we will eventually, but will probably need to start upgrading fuel pump side as well as the injectors just to be able to push the fuel through fast enough.

Might have to go drive by wire when I get more serious about track work and really start pushing the envelope so the ECU isn't playing catchup with a large TB.

But getting ahead of myself, just want to get the break in done and see how well the high cams do.

Heck, the low cam power profile looks a little strange after 6k rpm but it was really just an installation run so will have to see after I do some break in kms.

Fuel trims with the wide bands will probably clean some of that up.
