Car is back in our shop now for the next round of work being

1 - service engine and adjust tappets
2 - final tune with mivec engages on petrol and E85
3 - play, play and play till Im sick of cam timing for best results (Really not looking forward to this part)
4 - replace front lower control arms and upgrade to EVO 6 front hubs with Brembo Brakes
5 - Regas air cond
6 - release to customer with large bill so I can go to Europe

Expect to have all this done over the next 6 weeks.

Front Brembo brakes have been completed and fitted with EVO lower control arms and brake master cylidner upgrade.

Car is now ready to go onto the dyno hoping to do so end of this week and start the very labour intensive tuning and playing with cam timing.

Unfortunately a brand new timing belt hydraulic tensioner failed and the valves just tipped the pistons resulting in a loss of compression. we only found out when we put the car on the dyno as its only a minor drop in compression initially. We are going back to the supplier of the tensioner and put a warranty claim down on it to recover costs.

But in discussions with Eric, we have decided to redo the induction system for a more aggressive race option and will be designing a new V8 supercar inspired intake manifold with individual throttle bodies.

That means that we will be looking to sell off the existing manifold and throttle body on our website / ebay if anyone is interested. Should be uploaded within the next few weeks.

Brakes look great on the front though :)

Short answer not a lot due to limited staff since xmas. We have had the lower intake manifold plates cut and we will be sending out a doner motor to have the ITB's manufactured. Got some new staff starting soon which will ease us up - running approx 3 months behind this moment due to two staff leaving and despite advertising, was unable to get more staff. We have someone startnig tomorrow and hopefully another person in a few more weeks to get us back to full staffing levels again.

The motor is nearly back together - the collapsed tensioner damaged bearings and other items as well so it ended up a full refresh of the motor. Whilst we were doing this we decided to re-profile the camshafts on the low rpm lobes as they were just too aggressive, fine if it was a drag car but as a circuit racer was not quite right.

That took ages and now like many businesses we are struggling with the Covid Virus. Currently running on skeleton staff but it has some benefits as we are able to focus on these long outstanding jobs. We got the camshafts back around 1 month ago. One head is back on the car and looking to fit the other head up this week and get it running again.

I have been speaking with a company in England on the ITB system and we have worked out a conversion to a DBW ITB design just finalising whether we go cross angle like the V8 supercars or go for a paralleled design log style design.

In all seriousness, though, if anyone knows any Mitsubishi Experienced mechanics out there would really love to hear from them as we have just been unable to find a decent mechanic. It breaks my heart for the industry, to see these "Qualified Mechanics" come through and find out they know nothing. Hopefully once the industry can start up again after this Covid Virus staff passes, things may improve for everyone.

with some luck hope to have the car on the dyno again within a few weeks to break in the new engine again. Will keep everyone posted on it for sure.
