Coolant flow directions?

Post by bob_oz »

Hi Guys,

trying to work out the coolant flow directions in the 6a12 block - fairly confused so far - anyone know?

assumptions so far:
* the water pump (front) draws coolant from the side ports connected to the outside of the block and pumps it out and down the center of the block towards the back of the block
* the coolant at the back of the block exits via the pipe in the valley into the rear thermostat housing,
* in the thermostat housing it passes though the thermostat (when open) and into the bottom radiator hose
* the top radiator hose drops coolant into the "T" piece above the thermostat where it splits and enters the back of each head
* coolant flows through the head and down the coolant holes in the head gasket into the outside of the block.

workshop manuals show nothing conclusive
