De-Cat Your experiences?

Post by Invader_X »

I have been reading countless forums and threads regarding De-Cats.

One side says its makes a difference and the other says it makes the car run like crap.

Another concern is the sound, I hate rasp, I hate the sound of farty, tin canny exhaust sounds. I like that smooth revy, higher 'tuned' sounds these FTos are capable of.

Does anyone have any actual figures (dyno) of removing the cat (before and after)?

if I do end up removing it, will putting a resonator be better than a test pipe? But then the concern with this is the 02 sensor.

My white FTO is decatted, but given my comparison is my auto one which only ever had extractors, couldn't really speak to the difference. I will be putting a hi-flow cat on when I can though, cause I don't think the gain is worth being pinged by the cops.

I think Technikhaus recently did.

Yeah, can give an improvement, but can also sound pretty average, as the car becomes very raspy.

Probably only feel an improvement if the cat was blocked in first place
