El-Cheapo Speaker upgrade

Post by shadowarrior »

I still have stock speakers in my car. With Supercheap having 40%-50% off on speakers, I was thinking of upgrading the stock with something half decent. The stock one crackles if music has little bit of bass...

I was reading through the topics and the word is I should stay clear of Sony. (Are they worst than the stock I have?) How about JVC/Pioneer?
From their catalogue, they have JVC,Pioneer, Sony and Fusion for the 6X9 and only Fusions for 6 inch.
http://catalogue.supercheapauto.com.au/ ... e#pageNo=4

Would I need to drill new holes or something to fit the 6 inch speakers in front? (Think stocks are 6.5?)

I am not sure what my headunit's output ratings are. I am not a heavy music listener. I don't listen to doof doof music... mostly good old classic rock at a very moderate volume.

Any advice? :)

Personally I have nothing against Sony except their Xplod series.. I'm running Sony 6x9s in my rear and I have no issues with them.

You might need to make yourself and adaptor out of MDF or something if the speakers holes don't match up with the FTO speaker holes in the door. Not hard to do though just use the template that comes with the speakers
There are two types of people on forums; those that give helpful advice, and the others

I got some cheapie JVC 6x9s in the back, they sound good for the money, plus I have some Jaycar Response kevlar speakers in the doors which are quite good too.

Picked up pioneer 6x9 and Jvc 6.5 just now within 100 bucks all up from super cheap. She was also trying to sell me a jvc amp for $150 and an off the shelf jvc sub for $45. But am most probably going to order the amp and sub later from Usa if need be.
