Depends...
do you want a slower car? If yes, then install the 4" exhaust.

Modifying for the sake of modifying is just stupid. There is no sensible reason to put a 4" exhaust on your FTO unless you're wanting to fit in with every other retarded P plater. If that is your reasoning then go ahead, you're a sheep and will go wherever the retarded flock takes you regardless.

Also a Milo tin would give you better street cred.

Its not just for the sake of modifying. Im getting kinda over the stock exhaust and I got given the 4 inch for free this afternoon, just wanted some 3rd party views on it. At the moment with crap all money to spend, the 4 inch exhaust change is my only option other than keeping the stock one..
I fix cars.

It will still cost you money to get that tip put on. And how is it going to benefit you exactly? Instead you could save the money for a full exhaust (around $600 if your happy with mild steel), or put it towards stuff like brakes, rims, tyres, stereo, etc.

I still have a stock exhaust, have had since I bought the car in 2008. I still love the sound of Mivec kicking in and find no desire to sound like those sh*tty Lancers and Excels with cannons on them. Cannons sound retarded and paint a big target on your back that says "Hi cops. My exhaust is too loud. Would you like to bend me over and f**k me over my bonnet whilst you find every other possible defect with my car, including the fact that my window wiper fluid bottle is empty, or that my car is too low, etc."

Does it improve the sound: Not really.
Does it look retarded: Yes.
Is it pointless: Yes.
Is it worth it: No.

Edit:
You too can have an awesome car that looks like this:

I see what youre saying. Tip I can get put on for free, Im personal friends with several mechanics. I guess benefits are a different sound and look to the car. It does make sense that it isnt practical - I get where youre coming from. I think that Im only considering this big ass exhaust is because its my only option for a change, its not necessarily me being like "OMG I BRAH I GOT A PHAT TRUCK EXHAUST FOR MY HECTIC CAR" its simply an option for change at the moment. If it were any other exhaust I would be saying the same thing.

P.S I always keep my wiper fluid up and my car isn't lowered ;)
I fix cars.

But it isnt the tip that makes the majority of that sound, its the resinators etc further down the line. The tip will only provide a different aethetic. In my opinion, im more for understated. Save up and get quads or swap the tip out for a slightly larger sports system tip. But in the end its your car, not mine.
