Okay had a chat to the bloke at RPW, and this is how it goes:
They only have 2 exchange units in stock.
Pay $x for the Shifter and $110 Core Charge
They send modified unit. once member swaps it over they send back the original and get their $110 refunded.
They also only have 2 in stock. So would have to be done in pairs. So people who want one staright away would be at the top of the list. and people who dont mind waiting a bit will be later on. I will get one first because i can... lol. nah i'll write up a DIY for everyone else...
The guy said he thought they went for around $270 ea. normally (race spec) but could do ten for 220. I just checked and they're 227 normally.. so either he was trying to get out of a discount of he had no idea of the usual price and we can get em even cheaper.

Because i willl have to gaurantee them a certain number of sales i will ask for a small deposit from everyone as a sign of commitment.. Say $50 just to make sure your not going to change your mind at the last minute..

As far as a time frame, I'd say we will start the group buy within 2-3 weeks and then get things moving from there. I had a Go of a mates FTO with a short shifter and its great. Definately getting one now.

So if we get the shifters for $220, the the totals will be:
$50 upfront deposit
$280 payment
$110 refund once returned the original unit.
what do you guys say?

Got the phone call regarding the group buy so figured hop onto the forum and give people the informaiton they need.

Okay first thing first - retail price on our rally spec shifters (And beleive me you don't want anything less) is usually $275.00 incl GST.

For a group buy I would do 10 sets of rally shifters for the same price as the standard short shifter kits which are usually $240.00. So this would be a $35.00 saving per unit.

With the FTO units, I only have 2-3 stock units to be available on exchange. How this works is like this

You are charged for the modified unit $240.00 plus and freight and posting, which on average would be around $30.00 depending upon how you wanted to pay for it.

There is also an additional "Core" charge of $110.00 which is refunded when your stock shifter is returned back to us.

This means you get our modified unit first, fit it up, and then send us back your origonal one at your own expense freight wise. Most people just send it australia post.

Fairly simple process and we can modify them in a day so we can if we move fast have 10 people in the spae of 5 weeks at the longest all with units fitted.

Our units are not just the lever arm, it the complete FTO shifter assembly which is why we can modify it forwards and backwards, and sideways as well on the shifter movement. The reductoin is around 60% approx forwards and backwards and around 40% sideways over stock. As well you wil lhave a more positive feel on the shifter.

It is more difficult iniitally for moving gears, but after around 2 - 3 days driving you won't notice it anymore.

Being a group buy I would propose that the best way to do this is like this.

Everyone were to order a unit via the RPW online store, the link was in the first page and put in the customers comment section "FTO Australia Group Buy", I would then adjust the price and invoice accordingly. This way if some people want to pay for it COD Australia Post, others bank transfer etc, it can be tailored to suit each individual.

Feel free to ask any more questions.

I'll check up on availability on the sticks. Sam, you might want to send panel house a PM & see how many they have. Its gonna be a mug if you have to do 2 at a time from all over the country side. I'd get everyone to pool their coin & buy a batch of 10 sticks first.....

What you are seeing is the normal short shifter price mins GST. You need to be logged into the website as a registered member as it works out tax content based upon your address.

If you go to the short shifter page, and at the bottem it offers two designs - short shifter standard and rally spec model. The rally spec model is the one we are offering.
