Hobart - Air Con Specialist

Post by Breza »

Hi all,

Finally get a weekend in Hobart with some decent weather and my air con has sprung a leak, there is a hissing/squeal noise coming from under the dash.

Least it's not the damn heater core again............feet are completely dry.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get my air con looked at?

The FTO is due for a service this week but am not sure air con is Autocraft's cup of tea. If all else fails I am sure they will have a crack!

Cheers

If anyone is interested........

Had Autocraft chck out the Air Con, suspected stuffed Air Con condenser.

Apparently they can run a special dye through the system to pick up leaks. Am going to book in to have this done next week.

Would be very good if it wasn't a stuffed condenser as they are apparently a few $$$.

Cheers

I was planning on taking the FTO off daily driver duty anyways and start driving our family sedan a bit more, might have to leave the FTO up at Autocraft for an extended stay to sort a few things out.

If I wasn't getting married I would be flying over to WA to pick up the 2.5 MIVEC frankenstein RPW have built.

Cheers

Autocraft

Post by FTO_wannabe »

A copy of weeks ago we stopped at McDonalds in Sandy Bay to get a bite to eat. Just as we leave I couldnt find reverse (ofcourse my partner was in the car and thought it was just my driving skills). He ended up finding reverse and we left McDonalds. As soon as I tried to find 2nd it wasnt there, and 4th wasnt to be seen either. So stressing that I had lost all the gears on the bottom row, I left it until after christmas to worry about it while it spent a few weeks in the car port.
Last week I took it into Autocraft, and something small had snapped. They also took care of getting a roadworthy so I could get it registered, so im all legal now! :D :D

So I would suggest that if anyone has car issues, go to Autocraft!

Hi All,

Air Con finally all fixed!

It was a small rubber seal in the front of the engine bay, typical FTO, the seal had to be specially ordered as the FTO is the only car it is used on.

Thank god it wasn't the condenser, I can now spend some money on the fun stuff. :-)

Cheers

OK, as mentioned in another thread......the saga continues......the reason why I have been holding off organisaing a cruise.

Air Con guys replaced a offending seal, all was good for a while as per previous post but I still have a gas leak. I have now dumped a total of 6 loads of Air Con gas into the atmosphere.

Not sure which Air Con company Autocraft use but I have lost confidence in their competence. (they are apparently out at Derwent Park)

My car is back in their hands for another few days to try and sort out the problem.

Cheers
