Great day at SMP! The organizers were fantastic. 3 instructors were available to help out by hopping into our cars and guide us along. I even offered one of the guys to take over the wheels and he gave no mercy to my ride. Drove like its stolen!

There are a mixed of slow, medium and fast cars. From Hyundai excel, stripped out mazda2, mx5, old classic cars, old porsche, commodores, rexes, to a couple of evos.
We splitted into 3groups and take turns to run.
interestingly i always found myself locked into battle with a new HSV GTS Walkinshaw. Hes a noob like i am, 1st time at the South Circuit. Will upload the video and pic soon!

Im sitting up in suite #7 having lunch there right now haha. Doing the defensive drivers course and theres a couple of supercheap auto V8s doing hot laps with passengers.

Would be fun to have a go in the FTO thats for sure!

The course is awesome fun but at the same time is also really helpful in both breaking bad habits and learning new techniques or just overall control of the car in an emergency situation.

I only did stage 1 which is basic awareness, clarification on some sketchy road rules and learning to brake in hazardous situations (I was the only one without ABS that didnt hit a cone and most people with it still hit them) as well as fields of vision and looking at where you want to drive, not where youre driving.

I highly recommend doing the course and to be honest I think it should be compulsory for all drivers on their Ls before moving to Ps.

I'll be doing stage 2 when I get the new car ;)

Yeah im definitely doing stage 2 sometime. Just waiting on the new car and money. I think they only run stage 2 from December through to Feb. If you wanted to we could both go and do it 8)

If its only Dec to Feb then Id be shooting for next years.

That video was driven by my mate, i let him give it a go in my slow ride and hes a much better driver than i. Unfortunately there were no chasing going on in that video. I will put up a few more, featuring me up against a Holden GTS walkinshaw! thats a must see!

uploading video is a pain!

No idea. It was a complimentary track day for new ardc numbers. Membership was $70 annually if I'm not wrong.
Check out the Sydney motorsport park website for track rates.
