Central Locking Install
Hi guys,
I know many threads have been posted on this already but a lot of them contain broken links etc.
I need a new actuator for both my doors as the motors have pretty much failed on them.
Is this what I need?
http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LR8810
And would this be the best guide to follow?
http://www.mitsubishi-fto.org/workshop/ ... index.html
The guide just seems too brief :\
I was also wondering how I would gain access to the current central locking installed in there? It's hidden behind the secondary door panel part, however I have never undone that.
Thanks

Re: Central Locking Install
You just need one master and one slave actuator, plus the mounting hardware. I don't think you need the rest. You attach it to the central locking wires and the rod that is connected to the old central locking, so you do need to get to the insides of the door.
I have done the passenger side door on mine (and it has lasted at least 7 years) so if you need a hand give me a buzz.

LED ALL the things.

Re: Central Locking Install
You dont even need a a master & slave. Get 2 slaves (2 wire versions) & let the factory FTO receiver do the work. Then its simply a case of mounting them & connecting 2 wires per side.
You dont need to, just leave it there-Nighthawk- wrote:I was also wondering how I would gain access to the current central locking installed in there? It's hidden behind the secondary door panel part, however I have never undone that

Re: Central Locking Install
There is something rattling in my passenger side door (not the Window, I have adjusted it both on the slider and the top mounting points) so I might take the door panel off and just replace where the current lock is. Is there a guide to taking off the full bit of the door?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Central Locking Install
You can't. Then your door wont shut & latch properly if you take the whole mechanism out. It's integrated.-Nighthawk- wrote:There is something rattling in my passenger side door (not the Window, I have adjusted it both on the slider and the top mounting points) so I might take the door panel off and just replace where the current lock is. Just find the rattle & fix it.

Re: Central Locking Install
Your drivers door has a lock switch on the four pin harness so you leave these connected.

Re: Central Locking Install
I might be looking to do this on the weekend (as both sides have started to go). It will make it easier to sell if when I click the button it actually unlocks!
But the tutorial link is dead now?
Does anyone have a copy of it?
Also, can anyone confirm the exact part from Jaycar?
Thanks

So I have central locking but no button what would be the easiest thing for me to do to get keyless entry?

Re: Central Locking Install
Love how easy central locking replacement is...
The original install can be a pain though, I attempted it in my mates bluebird, and give up...

Re: Central Locking Install
Guide is confusing from memory. You need to also keep your lock and unlock wires connected to your original drivers door lock actuator
Those jaycar ones suck. The motors get too hot and melt the plastic surrounding the motor which then seizes up the motor.
You only notice this when you break open the actuator.
