He should take the dash sensor out and give it a clean, mine had some build up on it a ages ago when I noticed the gauge was sitting above normal and got worried.. Took it out to replace it, but the replacement didn't fit, ended up just cleaning it and it read normal.
Broke it the other day when trying to splice in another wire for the digital gauges, and it now reads 150degrees before the car even starts up LOL
Pics of location please.

The reason I dont think it's the cluster is because when it gets above half and I turn the aircon on, the fans kick in and the temp goes back down to 1/2. Will a manual cluster work just as a replacement to check temp guage? (if its the cluster then I'm just bringing an extra case of beer to the bonfire.. havent had the chance to replace it just yet anyway ill probably get there some time over the weekend)

Also need to see if it actually is overheating but dont have access to one of those temp guns. When I find out for sure its not the cluster then will give it to the mech down the road.
I fix cars.

Right, it's not the cluster!

Interestingly enough, the tacho also still did not work.
