Heat settings 1 and 2 not working.

Post by GazGPvR »

As it was cold this morning, I had my FTO running for a few mins before driving. I tried to put the heat on setting 1 and two but nothing happened, but when I put it on setting 3 or full - it works with no problems.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Cheers, Gaz :)

Unsure of the manual control system, but if it's a point of contact dial, then the mostly likely cause if the contacts being oxidised.

The metal tabs simply need to be lightly sanded back to remove the layer of oxide for proper contact to be made.

Again, only if its a point of contact dial.

Happened on my old Hilux.

If it ends up being something wrong with the controls themselves and it cant be fixed, I actually have a manual replacement unit on the shelf in the shed. Given the vast majority are running the climate control unit, if you do end up needing to replace it, im guessing it would be quite hard to otherwise track down.

Thanks Dwayne, I'll get it checked. Forgot to mention it to the mechanic as I left it in today to get timing belt and water pump done. Not a big problem but I want to have everything just right! If the controls can't be fixed, I'll give you a shout

Probably just the resistor block is fucked, check on the outside of the evaporator

Pretty sure the manual controls are the same as a couple other Mitsis.

Same as a CE Lancer AFAIK.

At least they cosmetically look the same.
