My friend who works at supercheap is getting me a great deal for the shocks. I'm pretty happy with the price.
Just curious, what price is he getting you the shocks for? Also, are you grabbing new springs?

He is selling all four to me for $450. I *did* want to get new springs, (I read somewhere on here earlier today something about King Springs?) However, my father insisted I should not waste my money, then continued on a rant about how he did all the "modifying crap" to his HZ Holden Kingswood station wagon, then his VC Holden Commodore.

I also want to get a strut bar for the front whilst the mechanic is doing the work on everything else. Is there any specific brand that make fto strut bars?

Go with a cusco or one from a version R. There's two types of cusco - the adjustable one and one that's the same as the version R one, only blue in color on the ends rather than the version R's red/pink.

Also invest in a rear strut brace, makes a bigger improvement on a floaty rear end then the front.
I fix cars.

You can put the strut bars on yourself..both front and rear...3 bolts really...just do them up tightly with a socket spanner.

And springs are not only for show/mod. If your shocks and springs were both stock..and your shocks are dying...high chances your springs will follow soon. Springs also contribute to the squeaking noise you were talking about earlier. I would change shocks and springs together...will last you for some good amount of years, and then change them both together again. You can just get the stock ride hide of King springs. King is just a manufacturer, another is Lovells. Changing the shocks and springs which are on their way out is a maintenance item, not really a mod. If you were grabbing coil overs that would have count towards a mod. :)

If you are getting springs, try to look for progressive springs. Again, it isn't a mod. My car has progressive springs as stock (which I will be replacing soon). :)

I'd get the king springs if your changing the shocks.
They're fairly cheap, Good quality and make a noticeable difference in handling & appearance( if you get lowered ones).
Because nothing is faster than a p plater in a commodore.....
except maybe a p plater on a unicorn

4x new springs, 4x new shocks, 4x new brake pads and a strut bar. Looks like I'll be spending a little money :D looking forward to it though. My shocks are so far gone that it sounds like something's going to fall off my car. Looking forward to better handling also :)

I don't wish to lower my car, so I don't want the super low springs. Any of you guys have the regular springs?

I think $85 is fair. I paid over $100 for them, but they do have surface imperfections and so I think thats a reasonable price. I will try and get a picture up tomorrow (wont get a chance today). Postage will be additional.

For brake pads, try to source Ebc red. :)

You don't need ebc red for street use.

Of course green works fine, but for the minimal price difference, the red is far superior to the green.
Track day pads are the Yellow, Blue and Orange.
