Gear changing difficult when cold

Post by HeRo »

Is it just me? I seem to have more difficulty changing gears especially 1,2,3 up and down when the I just start the car. It's fine when it warms up. Does this have to do with the gearbox oil? What's the best manual gearbox oil out there? I read somewhere it should be 'Hypoid gear oil SAE 75W-85W conforming to API classification GL-4 or higher' ...wth does that mean?

thanks,
Col

I use this - http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 6527#Cross

Castrol Syntrans is the better, more expensive alternative but that stuff works fine too.
I fix cars.

That's exactly what you should use. Print this out & walk into Repco. You'll probably end up with a bottle of Castrol Syntrans or Valvoline Dura-gear.
