Ugh, so the puller needs threads in the balancer, which the balancer doesn't have....
So now we're back to where we started, how can we remove it? We can't really get a crow bar behind it, so that doesn't help :(

It doesn't necessarily need thread, just whack the bolt back in (not all the way) & push off that.

I was thinking one of the other types. I know that's a cam gear, but same in principle.

Trying, but it won't budge at all, I'm pulling it with a pry bar, and hitting it with a mallet... no movement at all :/
There's not much to leverage against which is annoying.

Looks like we're putting the wheel back on, and putting it back on a trailer back to Nick's house.
All the shops are closed and we just can't get the harmonic balancer off.
Nick's off to Auckland tomorrow morning so it will sit in his garage for the next month :/
I hate leaving things half done...

Or you wait till tomorrow and you fix it for him because you can buy the right puller tomorrow and then drive it to his house for him ;)

Just get some massive pry bars and go top and bottom, or in 3 spots if you can.

If you dont have one then get a massive fat flat head screwdriver and put a big piece of pipe over it as an extension and hope it doesnt bend/snap?

IDK, go buy the right tools or take it to a mechanic
I fix cars.

If you pry down the bottom you're putting a lot of force against the sump, to the right is the alternator, and above I can't reach.
No money to take it to a mechanic, already cost him $190 this last day.

FFS don't need a puller just spray crc then give it a few good belts with a rubber mallet it will eventually come off. Sometimes they can take a bit of work but I never had one couldn't remove. And to get to sensor will need to remove lower timing cover and to do that will need to remove top cover to make it easier.

Still no luck, it's moved a tiny bit, but I kept at it for about 5 mins and it didn't move any more. Shall try again in 10-15 mins as I've pretty much soaked it in WD40 so shall let that sit for a while then try again.

This^
I hold a lump of wood on the back of it and then hit the wood with a lump hammer. I turn the engine and hit in different spots. When I have moved it a bit, I spray moar WD40 behind it and hit it back on a bit, rinse and repeat. Each time it will come off further. Slowly but surely it will come off. Took about 30 minutes to get Vectose off!
