Stepper is fine as far as I know although I am starting to have my doubts because is sometimes stalls on startup (revs up to 2k or whatever then straight back down to 0)

I am going to swap my coilpacks with a set that I know for a fact work fine and also adjust TPS perfectly to spec with multimeter (not just 'turning it until it works' lol)

Aside from that though I am out of ideas..

Tps not your issue here now.

Are wires to stepper good? No broken or dodgy looking ones

Doesnt TPS cause issues when hot (low on power, lag, stalling etc?)

Wires to stepper are fine. It idles without a problem, only issue is the initial startup.

Only has idle issues after running for 15-20 mins.

Could it be a wire or set of wires being held up against the engine somewhere and getting too hot?

Yup idle is about 800rpm or so.

sh*tty TPS was replaced but it is not adjusted 100% to spec according to the workshop manual that I have.

Could it be an alternator/battery (battery is pretty sh*tty) or bad earth/wiring up against engine?

Does it sound like a break down of spark when you are driving?

It will be intermittent as well and it will happen when its hot. It wont do it when its cold.

If so its a sh*t coilpack or lead.

And coilpacks and leads wont give an error code as well. It took me two weeks to figure out a sh*tty coilpack..

And dont use a coilpack thats been laying around that youre not sure if it works either cos that might be fucked as well..

Take it from a working car. (This set me back a week )

Yep I had a dodgy lead that didnt seem to sit right so I replaced it.. but gonna swap with coils from silver wreck (I know they work) and get a set of Magnecors or something.

Went to take leads out of little clips.. clip snapped and fell under fuel rail and now I cant reach it with anything.. tried pliers, screwdrivers etc.. FML

Someone come and buy this car off me. $6k, engine cost me 5 alone for the rebuild, $1000 on rebuild gearbox, $1400 on shell + 12 months rego.

Come get the c**t.

Found the problem. Spark plug tube is damaged up the top so seal wasn't sitting correctly. Has chewed through the top of the coil pack on the front bank passenger side, oil present in tube.. also small amounts of oil in middle one.

Is it possible to just replace the spark plug tubes or am I going to have to repair it properly?

Will be giving Nas at Thornleigh Cylinder Heads a very angry phone call and demanding an explanation about this sh*t. Absolutely f**king rubbish. Paying 5 grand for a f**king rebuild and they don't even do it properly. Bunch of f**king c**nts.

Never been so pissed off and angry at a business in my life. If he had've done his f**king job and put the rocker covers on like he was supposed to then we wouldn't have this problem.

Paid $280 for each head to be serviced ($560 total), makes me wonder if they actually f**king did anything to them.

Took off rocker cover, seals were sitting fine but took them off and put them back on again to make sure. Rocker cover back on, replaced dodgy looking coil.

Had engine idling for about 15 minutes and then was fine so took it for a drive, on the way back (only 200m up road) got engine light.

Checked code got 52 (Coil/ignition issue on cylinders 2 and/or 5) which wasn't even the dodgy coil.. we replaced that one as well (not the lead) and still bad.

Gotta be either sh*tty lead, lead not in rear bank properly or spark plug issue yes?

So took my manifold off, replaced lead.

Turned car on.. went to push in the wiring clips into coilpacks. One on passenger side was fine when I pushed it in a bit, middle one was fine.

When I went to push the driver's side in a bit further (I was only double checking that they were all in properly) car starts shuddering and idling rough. I took my hand off it and it stopped shuddering. Pushed on it again, shuddering. Took it off, stopped. Pushed it into clip again, shuddering.

Have had my f**king manifold off twice, replaced all my coilpacks and leads and its the f**king wiring.

Anyway, I have no idea how one would go about fixing this? Pins look fine inside and it is definitely on the wiring end as the coilpacks have been replaced.
