Automatic jumps into neutral while driving

Post by ramo555 »

Hi guys,

when im driving in my automatic FTO it randomly jumps into neutral and it wont go back into gear even though the gear stick is in Drive. The only way I have figured to get the car working again is to disconnect my battery and reconnect it which I believe restarts the computer and I can then drive again.

Any idea on how to fix this or what the problem is?

Thanks guy I will give it a go, it has been serviced but not sure when the last gearbox oil change was done, we took it to an auto elec who checked and said there is a fault coming up but not stating what code it is so thought it might be an electrical fault with the ecu... thus why when I disconnect and reconnect the battery it works again...any thoughts or still the gear box oil?

I'd start with a fluid flush, then you can actually check what error codes the trans is throwing up: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14667
