What Parts do FTO's share with other Mitsubishis

Post by DinnerPlate74 »

Gday, i have a 95 GPX that is in very bad condition (car crash) that i bought as a project but have no longer got time or interest in a project this big, i have been trying to sell it for a while, with no response and a few time wasters, and the wreckers aren't interested as it's an import, what i'm wondering is what parts does it share with other Mitsubishi models that were sold in Australia so i can part it out and hopefully have more chance of selling it?

Thanks for any help

There are two types of people on forums; those that give helpful advice, and the others

It shares a few parts with lancers, but on the whole, not many. How much have you been trying to sell the car for if you dont mind me asking.

The engine is the same as a HJ Galant. That's it about it. A few bearings and suspension bits are similar to the magnas and lancers but other FTO owners are your market.

The mirage girls like to do engine swaps with our 6A12 for MOAR POWAH (lol). Might be able to flog the engine on their forums.

Glalant engine is a mirrored 6A12 without MIVEC.

Only the lower half is Galant, heads are different, but yes, the lancer/mirage market may well take the running gear, brakes and engine. A few of the suspension bits are lancer, momo steering wheel is same as galant

thanks for the replies guys, i'll give the wreckers a call and see how much they would offer for those parts and i'll have a look around a few other forums like suggested.

I didn't crash it, i bought it in the condition it's in as a project car when i was 13, 3 years later and it's still in the same condition.

Hmmm, bit of work required to fix that isnt there . Bonnet, passengers guard, door and bodywork to the rear quarter. Youcould get the spares easy enough. Trick then becomes putting it all back together. And these days, you could probably pick up one in complete condition for 2K.

Too much work needed to fix that up. Wreckers won't pay you more than $400-$500 for it after offering a free tow pick up.

Neither of the wreckers here are interested in the whole car as its an import and only one of them takes parts, so i can only sell them bits that it shares with other cars that were sold in aus if they're interested.

GPX brakes are same as Evo i-iii..

May be able to sell those as an upgrade to Mirage guys, Lancer guys, or even to people with GR's..
I just had to add it ......

will the engine fit a 2000 model CE (I think) Lancer without modifying engine mounts? and would a manual transmission out of the lancer fit and take the power of the 6a12 Mivec engine?

You can take the internals of the fto gearbox and put them in the lancer gearbox shell
        And yeah it bolts up...
