Post by Wax anima »

Hey guys have spotted some bubbling on the roof of the fto which I'm almost certain in rust haha was just wondering how long I could wait until it gets dire or will it be significantly cheaper if I nipped it in the butt now?

I asked on the facebook page, but may as well check here, do you glue the roof back up, or leave it?
If you glue it back, what glue?

    :(

Nah, never did... Was on the list in prep for rear bar and full respray.

Had my eye on the roof for a while.. Never seemed to get worse and not sure if it was just a poor patch up job from previously.. Looked more like an indent than a rust bubble..
I just had to add it ......

Changed in 97. Not sure when facelifts started but there may have been some that were made before that. Not sure Rockits was originally a facelift either.

I have a spare roof.. It is at Mortdale.. It should not cost 4k to fix. That is almost the price of a back to bare metal respray for the whole car.. o_O

I got charged $1000 to fix my midnight blue one and that had a sunroof. 4K is a rip. They should be able to weldup holes without having to replace roof unless its really bad

Yeah, I would only use the roof to cut plates out and weld them back in the roof of your car... Saves them having to cut metal, bend it, and end up bogging it anyway ... Or, just skin it and use it if the rust is that bad...

But be best to find a guy you can trust to repair first. I have a bloke, but he is all the way down South. So way to far for you to go ... But if you feel like a drive down to Wollongong, let me know...

Usually when a place charges an excessive fee like that, it is just to get you out of the shop cause they don't want to touch it..
