Oil Top Up

Post by Strkszone »

Noob question I know, but I'm just topping up the oil in the FTO. Do you just unscrew the oil filler cap (The cap that says Engine Oil on it) and pour the oil in there 500 ml at a time and check the levels according to the dipstick? Was a bit confused because it looked like there was no reservoir for the oil and that it went directly onto the engine :S. Wanted to double check here before I did something stupid lol

How low is your fluid?

Have you done a replacement, and just topping up?

It is recommended that you do not mix oil. So if you have no idea what was used before, don't just grab any oil, and top it up ... Drop the oil, and do a full replacement.
I just had to add it ......

Will do, thanks. I'll probably just get it serviced real soon anyway... it's getting close to that time of the year.

Owner's manual says to use 10W - 30 so I'm assuming that's what was used, I'll just double check whenever I get the oil changed.

Yes, you unscrew the oil cap and pour the oil into the engine.
It will run through the oil galleries and end up in the sump, on the bottom of the engine.
