Are there any tricks to replacing the fuel pump ???

got a replacement pump in the mail and wondered if there was any tricks or traps when refitting the new pump??

Yep, the connectors are a bastard to undo if they are the brass threaded connectors. Dont try and undo the hoses on the fuel pump, youll bend the brass fittings. Youll need to undo the other side of the hose. And to do that you mayneed to lower the tank.

    Yeah this ^^^

    Undo the line under the car first near the tank, then do the one on the lid on top of the tank. The one under is a free spinning connection, the top one isn't. If you just do the top one only, the hose will twist up & be a massive pia.

      thanks guys much helpful , new pump is in and all close back up , but what do you know it seems it wasn't the pump that was the problem , checked the old pump on a battery and it works ,grrrrrrrrr , , so know I guess its a chase the wires situation ,

      keep an eye out for plumes of black smoke coming from the sth side , there may be an fto inferno going on ,lol

      Yeah yeah old thread I know but we came to do the pump on Rows car and didn't do it this way, used a flare/pipe spanner whatever they are called and still bust the damn connector on the top, it was rounding the flare nut thing off and eventually twisted the pipe off.

      So how do we fix this as we have the main hose up top with a bit of crap flare nut still screwed into it?
      Do I need to drop the tank and pull the hose out from underneath?
      I've also had a go at the 'free spinning' one underneath and that just won't budge either, are these normal threads or opposite? (i.e am I undoing the right way - anti clockwise)
      Going to need a new plate thing too (Dwayne) for these fittings to connect back onto.

      EDIT: Row managed to get the busted flare nut out with mole grips.
      Now just got to either fix the bracket that the pump goes on due to busted pipe (get a new one welded on?) or get a replacement.

      EDIT: Fixed, took it down to the fabricators (the guy doing my charge cooler) and he cleaned it up and welded the flare nut back onto the pipe.
