Mivec not working in triptronic

So I don't think Mivec works in triptronic, only in auto, here is what happens:

Auto - Revs to about 4k if I put foot down, massive boost in RPM (very sudden), to about 7-8k then upshifts. If I then keep the foot down mivec won't kick in again after upshifting, just revs out as normal.
Triptronic - Revs out like normal, no obvious switch

Anything I should look for? The engine was swapped to the mivec one at some point too...
