Having trouble starting, not the battery...

Post by Elven »

So I've recently purchased a 96' FTO GPX in pretty good condition for it's age. Minor cosmetic issues, have replaced water pump, timing belt and rocker cover gaskets. It has a few other issues I'm a bit puzzled at.

Main issues:
-A/C gets colder with revs but is warm/fan at idle.
-Has trouble starting, if sitting for longer than 6 hours. Getting progressively worse...

I've looked at some of the other threads that are somewhat close but not the exact same issue. I've had electrics tested; fine, purchased a new fuel filter waiting for that to come in, and I took the A/C to get regassed. Very vaguely told me the compressor is screwed. Dude seemed a bit sketch :| but not too sure.

Well the compressor spins faster with revs so it makes a little bit of sense...

Starting issue could be the starter motor or a parasitic drain? Does the car lose revs on idle?

Start by checking the error codes. Then the dartboard gets bigger.

No way. Never check error codes, let us just elaborate until all parts not related to the actual issue have been replaced.

Thanks for the quick response!
Engine light flashing consistently at 2hz. Neutral is the same.
I assume that also means no codes?
TCL is 1hz but does not appear/functions correctly while driving etc.
ABS appears to be only one throwing codes.
32 Front left ABS sensor rotor Defective teeth; and 52 with relay out.

Revs don't move while idling. Checked voltage, 12.8 before starting car (issue was present when starting). No amps, volts over the fuses. Don't think it's a parasitic drain from that.
