Boost gauge is slow to register / update the display

Post by Rob Furniss »

Anyone with some electrical nous know why the gauge is slow to change, could it be due to the way I've wired it up or if it's most likely just because it's a crap/cheap gauge?
It also seems to read slightly differently if I put on the head lights - could this be due to voltage drop/bad earth somewhere, wires to thin?

I've got a couple of things coming off the same switched live and also the same earths all behind the stereo.
(boost gauge and power and earth for boost gauge sender unit, wideband afr gauge), it looks like a mess actually behind there and not all due to me there were random wires there before I touched it, but that doesn't mean I can't try to sort it out.

Anyone know where there are other sources of switched live?

Does the gauge have a separate sender unit, or do you run a vacuum line all the way to the gauge?
If it's digital, you may need to ensure they share the same grounding point?

It's digital and has a separate sending unit so I've had to run power and earth to both, it's been in the car ages so I can't remember where they are grounding but will check.

Just rip the dash out and wire everything properly. It's pretty easy..
