Well have decided to turbo my FTO as need a project and ended up on doing this
So far have pretty much got all I need except new braided lines for fuel filter relocation and turbo oil feed line

here is the list I have got and what I have done so far

Turbo TD05 (off a GSR lancer early 1.8 model) chose this as spools up very fast for low boost to up low end torque
Intercooler New
New injectors (late model magna)
Walbro fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Greedy E-manage blue (may change to Haltech yet)
Larger TB and matched Plenum already done

Already mounted intercooler, Fuel pump and injectors waiting on rail adaptor for FPR. May have to turn rail around yet but unsure either way fuel filter will be relocated and new braided lines for all fuel lines being made next week.

Emanage already installed (may change to Haltech yet)

Battery already relocated to boot

Car goes in for for up and down pipes next week and turbo mounting at same time they will be made from current extractors but will be new Y-pipe/collector from there

Going to attempt intercooler piping myself will wait to see how I go with that.

Once up/down pipes made will be dissassembled so Car will still be useable while I tidy up new lines ETC

Lucky exhaust is already done 2.5" from high flow or no cat back and dont intend on going to 3" as only running mild boost max 7psi will start at 5psi (waiting on new actuator for turbo for this) even though current one is adjustable still rather new as dont want to boost spike and blow internals apart as dont plan on forging or decompressing

Still to buy is boost gauge and BOV not sure if will go plumb back yet (not much on car is legal so why bother is my question.)

Seeing as turbo is water and oil cooled will run water from TB with t joiner not sure if will run oil from current sandwich plate oil filter adaptor or from original oil pressure sender yet, oil drain will be to sump which has to be removed and pipe welded in (this is not under any pressure so just normal hose will work although will be steel inner)

Will post up pics as I go have already got a few, This is not a sprint race and most of waiting time will be on pipe fab

Not looking for huge KW gain but more for Torque

allowing three months but way things are going using my skills and considering already have most of what I need this may be finished a lot sooner :D

thanks mate ffortunatly happen to have great business relationship with top tuning shop and piping specialist here so costs for things I cant do will be minimal and already had most of what I need already :D

GSRs use TD04 turbos, TD05 is the Evo turbo.
To be honest TD04 is tiny and you will run out of puff way too soon in the revrange.
Try and get at the very least an Evo 8 turbo

Nope not all mate, as I said not looking for top end boost more so in the lower end and its the TD05 not the 16g which is large one but 12g these are only good for 13psi max which is double what I will be running ;)

I might have a TD04HL 13G going for cheap soon...
Which came from an RVR SSG, this is also the same turbo used on the GSR.
Very early spool and begins to drop off around 5500rpm, which for MIVEC is perfect.
*Having said that, the turbo was attached to the 4G63, so it's a different ball game with the 6A12...

In all honesty I do agree with spetz that it wont be enough
At minimum I'd think you'd be best with a baby 16G TD05. or atleast a TD05 14B similar due to housing size, so you have a longer spool and longer scope.

The good thing is, if you change your mind you can unbolt and bolt on the other as they are the same connection pieces, however you'd need to re-trim...

Maybe find out what an equivalent MHI turbo is against AJs HKS job... that turbo is right on the money with the sweet spot.

Na once again only looking for low-mid end driveability! how often do you push past the 5-6K rev realistically? Worst case scenario is I can always change later but low end is where im looking hence the smaller snail ;)

small turbos spools up so fast that even when you're easy on throttle and get off the throttle to shift at 2000rpm for normal driving, your BOV still goes kappishh.. kapissshhhh...loud everywhere'

and mind the fuel consumption as well, you're on boost anytime even when you drive like granny'

it's good if you have another ride as daily'

Yip two other dailys now actually usually on the bike so FTO hardley driven esp now its getting hot

Yeah took that into account, but gotta remember being from NZ where I was paying $2.30L for fuel there, its basically half price as far as im concerned. You are right to an extent though and if I decide I dont like the little one then can always change, still bit concerned on which ECU to use pretty sure the Emanage blue will do just fine although Haltech is now much tempting but unsure which model will suit best?

Hoping to get more work done this weekend but doing Jacks timing belt and water pump etc so wont get back on it till next week. Unfortunatly will have to relocate fuel filter and will be doing braided line from fuel line at tank end all the way to filter as cannot get a female fitting for existing hard line and not a fan of cutting and flaring current hard line. This will put back time to get piping done but hopefully just a couple of days.

And have found a place that supplies Fuel rail bracket adaptor for FPR if anyone is looking at putting aftermarket one on

not too much work done over weekend as was doing Jacks timing belt :evil:

since last night and after work today have turned around fuel rail and added adapter plate for FPR (which im still waiting for) pick up new braided lines tomorrow for relocation of fuel filter then can put back together hopefull with FPR and get it down to shop for up/down pipes hopefully will reclock turbo tonight as will make fab work much easier and get oil feed and return lines in nice position.

Is annoying waiting on one bloody part before can get pipes done but at least making it a lot easier for pipe work and cheaper.

Was running extremely rich without correct air/fuel tune and larger injectors and pump setup on stock FPR just dumping fuel through exhaust :lol: Think new plugs will be in order :roll:

Get used to it! :lol:
Just ensure the cooling system is in good order as the extra fuel will be making it run hotter.
Last thing you want is a busted head gasket *like me*

Had some issues with moving fuel filter and FPR as tried to use original connection from rail to filter but had to shorten current line seeing as have swapped round fuel rail, Originally welded banjo to flow nut and same to original rail and pipe but wleds kept leaking so have gone full braided from filter to rail using -6 braided lines and rail adaptor, finally car is drivable again. Not running rich anymore with FPR and pressure sitting at just over 2bar (will be increased when tune happens)

Booked in for pipes Thursday now, this may take couple days.

Have clocked turbo so oil feed and return lines are 12 to 6.

Cant do much now till pipe wok gets done not happy with intercooler position so will move this weekend and start looking for BOV and couple new guages for boost and new matching oil pressure.

Might make up oil feed line too.

Once pipes done will put back to N/A form so still useable before I work out how intercooler piping will work

But on the whole its coming along smoothly
