So you want a hairdryer on your FTO? Or do you already have a hairdryer in it? This is the section for it. All other big power projects & forced induction goes here too.

Tranny not engaging

Post by ftonoob »

Yesterday morning I was driving to work when N started to flash and the engine stalled. Disconnected bat and started engine but no gear is engaging but indicator lights on dash work. Tranny seems to be dead no grinding noise or anything.

Manual gearbox for fto is ridicously hard almost impossible to find but I read the 4g93 fwd gearbox could work on the 6a13tt. Could it work on the fto?

Did you check the oil level?

The 4G93 gearbox should fit but the ratios are not well suited for the FTO high revving motor.

Topped it with fluid and still no action. Well I have a 6a13tt not the 6a12.

Manual FTO boxes aren't hard to find, where abouts are you located?

Have you checked the gear selector cable and brackets at all?

Went to the tranny itself and moved the bracket next to the filter

How long did the auto box last for?

If you have a 6A13TT then you could use 4G93 gearbox. Check that the starter motor is on the same place as I believe they differ (even though I also think that gearboxes have both mounting options)

Could someone guide me to what I have to get to do this conversion and what could I get rid off to buffer cost.

You mean auto to manual conversion?
I think there is already a guide on the forums if you do a search, likely created by Bennoz if I recall correctly.
It seems uncertain which parts fit from a Colt/Lancer/Mirage though. For example the gear level assembly I think is different

Think he's talking about the 4G93 box..

Here's a FTO box manual conversion thread, will give you an idea of all the other bits you'll need:
