His longer term plan was forged pistons and rods so would have been putting a new head gasket on at that stage, may just bring that all forward.
What else will he need for a full rebuild?
Cams are on order already (turbo cams with a 272 hks profile, should be in stock with rpw this coming week)

Aim is 400bhp with an FTO engine.

I don't know it's not a bad target.
We had a ride in Battys car in the early days when it still had the VR4 engine in. still twin turbo and only on 380bhp it was mental, anything around that would be good.

Engine is on 230000kms I think, do the crank shell bearings at the same time and new oil pump? Does the VR4 one fit and a better pump or did I dream that?
I'll be giving RPW a call on Monday anyway and see what advice they have and what options there are given that as Vectose already pointed out:

Just trying to be realistic haha. fto-007 only made barely over 350hp at 20PSI on an engine with $15k in it and every imaginable thing done to it. Still, aim for the stars you know! I'm happy to be proven wrong. ;)

Hmmm, this is going to be costly.
Everyone up here freights their engines down to Perth or Karratha for machining work, hoping the cylinder bores and crank are ok and that we can just get away with a head skim (there is a firm up here for that).
Could the heads be completely knackered if they are both corroded and warped? (thinking corroded due to prev owner not using coolant and warped due to coolant pipe popping off and dumping it all just over a year ago)
If the heads are dead and we need to replace - does anyway happen to have spare ones?

First job - pull the engine.

Well the rings are shot so instead of a cheap rebuild he's going forged.

Ordered:
Forged pistons in 0.5mm oversize and new rings
Forged conrods
Valve springs
Turbo profile camshafts were ordered a while ago

The plan is to freight the block to Barth Bros in Karattha and get the pistons and rods sent there for a bottom end rebuild inc acid clean, maybe balance the crank (waiting on costs), bottom end assembly.
Just waiting on them coming back to us with the full plan and costs, we will do the top end and then put it all together when we get the block back.

Engine is out of the car on the stand and the heads are off now.

Can you make out the discoloration at the top of the piston? water getting in?

Parts have arrived to help in the cars transformation, not engine parts though.
