it needs to be 3inch obviously at the TB to fit. The FTO factory goes from 4 inch to 3 inch, and the ARC does the same. Therefore I would try and replicate the factory intake if you can - they must have reasons for doing this?

I think having a 4inch end, allows you to use a bigger airfilter too, thus having an airfilter with greater surface area too..... on the down side a bigger air filter may not fit under the airbox you are having made?
