Insurance in NZ

Post by Grue »

Ho guys,

Time of the year again for insurance renewal, and wondered who u guys were with. I'm just turning 24, and have only just moved to NZ, so i'm guessing effectively I've not got any no claims.

Also, a company that won't freak out over minor mods like induction kit, mags, leather interior, etc. would be nice!

Any recomendations?

G

Am getting quotes off some companies today - I'll stick them up on here if i find any decent prices.

EDIT: So far, AMI and AA won't touch the FTO if you're under 25.

Probably too late, but I am in CHCH with a twin turbo FTO, and the insurance premium from National Auto Club isn't too bad, $1100/year.

Granted, I am 26, BUT they also insured me when I was 19 with a V6 Turbo Maxima for just over a grand, so my long winded point is, try them :)

The magic age of 25 isn't too far away now, so will have to give them a call next time. Cheers

yip over 25 mine was 400 full comp AMI and i had lost licence before 8O back there
have called a few over here and sh*t insurance is way overpriced! will be around the grand mark maybe just less but you also have to pay for third party in rego so its a double whammy not to mention in aus dollars too :!:

I still cant understamd why it was/is much cheaper for insurance in NZ a far less populated country where everything else in the cost of living is more expensive :?: even NZ cheese is cheaper here

So I'm going on a posting spree... Sorry to update such an old thread.

Im with NAC and they are happy to insure me (18 with manual GPX (Minor mods)), only on third party ATM because im too poor for anything else but if I remember right the price for full comprehensive isn't bad. They have an AA rating from S&P too!
