FTO required in Perth Urgent

Post by Mitsiman »

If there are any Perth owners with a FTO Mivec, preferably Auto but a manuel in a pinch.

We have an FTo with a RPM / Tacho / Ignition problem and I beleive i have isolated it to the ECU, but I need to do a triple check. I need a car for 1/2 hour to swap out the ECU and do a quick check, no chance of any damage to the your ECU as I won't be using it. Just removing it, fitting this one into your vehicle and seeing if the car runs.

I would be happy to organise some sort of compensation for your time.

I would love to do this before Xmas so I can finish this vehicle prior to Xmas before we close for holidays.

Anyone who can help, any time of the day I will make myself available at night time as well, please contact David on 94431719 or my mobile 0417910036

Please help me, help a fellow FTO Owner in Perth.

Are you sure it isnt the ignition failure sensoe. They generally knock out the tacho when they go.

Thats what I first thought but I purchased a 2nd hand one from a wrecker and same issue, no rpm. If I bypas the sensor the car runs. I isolated the dash in case that was earthing the line out and no change.

As far as I can see, the ECU isn't providing a RPM signal back to the ignition failure sensor.

I could be unlucky and have two dud sensors but that would be pure misfortune.

Have a look at the post. It might be worthwhile to try secondhand rev/speedo unit.

Yes I meant to post back but got busy.

    Found 3 problems lol

The first was the origonal IFS Sensor had failed. The 2nd hand one we have works fine. In fact the stupid car will now run.

But both ECU's I have are not producing a RPM signal, and the dash seems to have been blown on the rpm side of things as well.

We tested the doner vehicle ECU into this vehicle and still no rpm signal, showing the dash is faulty.

We tested both alternative Ecu's into the doner vehicle and no rpm so we know that they are faulty as well.

Big thanks to the doner vehicle owner, it really allowed me to isolate the problems.
