Hi, new to ftos

Post by zchen32 »

Hi I currently own a 1995 Fto mivec. bought it for $800. Drove it home for the weekend and then next day it wouldn't start properly. The car starts but as soon as I let go off the key it dies. Haven't had a chance to take it to mechanics yet. Also have just noticed that my fto doesn't seem to have an air flow meter. The previous owner has used some cheap silicon for the intake and there is no afm. Am i wrong but does the fto use an afm? Ill upload a pic when i get a chance.

Possibly stepper I think for the first problem?
and the Mivec motor has one built in to the manifold.

Actually, it uses a MAP sensor that is on the firewall instead of a MAF.

As soon as you let go of the key, depress the accelerator firmly to the floor to clear it out.

ok thanks, I have tried pressing on the accelerator but it doesn't work. Could you guys please send me a link of what the stepper motor looks like? So the mivec model doesn't have any sort of afm on the intake ? but a map sensor on the firewall?

Stepper: http://www.cyberspaceautoparts.com.au/c ... Motor.html

Yours may be brown though, and it is located on the throttle body, directly under your intake pipe.

Correct, no MAF on the intake pipe on the MIVEC engine. Instead it uses a MAP sensor. It is located directly behind the intake manifold on the firewall and has a vacuum hose that is connected to the manifold.
