New @ Syd

Post by Jholapeno »

Hi all,

Recently just picked up an FTO 95 GR, the thing was in quite a mess but the price was a steal.
Water damaged, so there was water in the engine, gearbox and cab. Was going to scrap it but I'm liking it too much.
It's been a headache full of fun so far, but the repairs are going relatively well - just need more funds to buy the bits!

Looking forward to sorting out this car out and getting it back into shape and on the road!

It is abit dented up, rear bumper had a nice prang and a small dint on the passenger side door. Will post up pics later on.
Interior is relatively decent - leather trimmed but it definitely needs a touch up on the doors and centre console needs to be replaced. Plastic is cracked, and one of the previous owners must have thought bedazzling it and covering up the breaks with leather trim would still look good. Maybe I'm just a little OCD about it though. lol

Here are some pics I said I'll upload earlier.

Glad to hear there are an abundance of parts on here! Thanks for the offer gents. I'll get around to fixing the cosmetics.. I do like the idea of switching it up with some aftermarket kit but we'll see how we go.

Right now I've got to sort out the transmission, belts, gaskets, bearings rotors... haha... It's got a tipbox. The thing has been a headache, keeps going into safe mode, probably still some water in the torque converter or a sensor mucking up. I'm thinking I might just swap it out for a manual. Not going to touch the thing till I figure out that first.

Looking at that rear, your beaver panel is going to need to be straightened out as well. So could cost a bit, if you were getting a pro to do it.

Manual conversion is a common thing as well, so there are always people selling all the parts as a kit, and lots of people to ask for advice on how to do it properly..

Search is your friend here.. :)

Other than that, she doesn't look too bad.. Do you see any signs of roof rust?

Its come up pretty clean other than the dent on the back. New tail light and rear bar and will look pretty good.

Yeah all in all it's not too bad, it will just take a bit of time to sort out. I'll be doing the repairs myself for the most part, I had to straighten out my lancers front support when it got punched in the face, this doesn't look near as bad. The boot lid actually locks in.

There is bubbling along the roof, I imagine it would be some lovely rust. Will be taken care of when I decide to spray the car. :)

I'll flick sahin a pm later, I'm looking to pick a trans and bits by the end of the month!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, catch ya around on the forum. :)
