Hi

Post by Noddy »

Hi, my name is Noddy. I live in the UK, and drive a COTY,trip, in immaculate condition, and I also own 2 GS manual models that need lots of work on, sadly only one will survive. I am also a member of the FTOOC in the UK.

I am trying to find out how many COTYs are left altogether, we have 12-13 in the FTOOC,now, with another 5 or 6 hiding in sheds and garages around the country.

I just wondered how many are left in Australia now ??

Thanks for reading this post

Well, given there were only 207 made, that doesnt make too many to account for

http://www.completefto.com.au/CompleteFTO.asp?aid=449

When I reverse engineered Mitsubishi's parts database, thats how many came out the other side.

yes I have seen that one on E bay , the trouble is with that one is its rotten as a pear and he still wanted a lot of money for it, that is someone trying to make a "buck" out of a scrapper I am afraid, and he failed because it didn't sell lol

I started a thread on the FTOOC UK site
http://www.ftooc.org/forum/showthread.p ... oty-owners ( hope you guys can see that thread)

to see how many were left in the UK, suprisingly quite a few popped up out of the woodwork, lol

    and this site
    http://www.completefto.com.au/modules/p ... p?mode=vin
has been like bible to me , even though there are a few discrepancies here and there, through it I found a Nakaya Tune, but a fellow member beat me to buying it by 1 hr grrrrr.

I know the FTO has been in Australia a lot longer than it has been in the UK, so in my quest to find out how many COTYs are actually left in the world starts with you guys and gals, but I will attempt to join all the FTO clubs in the world to find out roughly just how many of the "207" still actually exist, ( this is gonna take me years lol ).

I do know that since I have owned my COTY, I have seen 10 COTYs in the scrapyards in the UK, and many others are dying through the dreaded rust bug every month here

I was lucky, I managed to buy a fairly decent car. I had the cam-belt/water-pump done plus a good service, then it was taken to a fellow FTOOC member to have both inner flitches welded properly and the rear chassis rails replaced, plus a good underseal , then to top it all I had the car resprayed in its proper Y77 colour :)

Then I found out that my car was built on my birthday, that kinda blew me away finding that little fact out
so this is one FTO that will live a long long time 8)

If you click on my car picture it should lead you to my photobucket, there you will see my car , along with my brothers COTY, :thelist:, plus there should be a few pics of the UKs FTOOC members cars also ;)

Thanks for having me here guys :D

Think I should have joined here before I joined the UK club Rob

The FTOOC/UK forum is quite a "stuffy and straitlaced affair", here its a bit more "real life" and laid back

    I love it here already

Yep Desti' thats me mate ;) Noddy got his car in the end 8) lmao

And every time I drive it, it makes me smile ;)

sorry but I had to have that noddy pic as my avatar, big thanks mate :)
