1990 Lancer SE more expensive to insure than my FTO!!! WHY??

Post by Spud »

My wife drives a 1990 Lancer SE. Third Party RACV want $384. I have Third Party on the FTO and it only costs $257. What gives???

Market Value on the Lancer is only $2100. We are thinking of going elswhere with insurance unless it's gonna be the same elsewhere. My wife is a Rating One and is 34 years old too. I simply don't understand. Any ideas?

I had this conversation with one of the people who work in an insurance company before.

Apparetly Lancer is ranked within top 5 of "high risk vehicle", as there are lots of rice boy who stack there lancer and also its very easy to steal for joy ride.

Its a different story when it comes to full comp though....don't know why? insurance companies are just here to milk you...

Thanks guys. It not a Lancer you would hot up, well maybe in it's day but only if you had a GSR. So I don't see it being a rice boy's dream lol. You might be onto something with it being easy to steal though FTO338. Being so old would make it very vulnerable I guess. Full Comp was another few hundred dollars as well.

I may shop around and see what else other have to offer.

Thanks again all.

Agreed. Thats way too much. Shop around and im sure you'll find a cheaper quote... That said $257 is pretty cheap for an FTO.
