Mine's honestly insured for 26k with just a few accessories. Downside is the premium is also quite high (apparently i live in a sketch neighbourhood :P )
What insurance company are you with? Mines with Just Cars, & they would only insure it on market value (Redbook) Wanted to insure it for more but it was enough of a hassle getting them to bump it up to $14,700 & they wouldn't budge from that.. :(

Custom car insurance, specialist dvision of GIO. Choice of repairer, free windscreen, was $600 cheaper than justcars for me and excess was $500 lower. Can't get better than that

FYI
97 manual gpx, when insured had 60000kms or so
cd player and speakers
window tinting
sports suspension
sports air intake
exhaust

Covered for $25952 iirc
Premium is $2950, for in sketchy neighbourhood.

Perhaps i got lucky ?? o.0
Needless to say, i asked the phone operator to read the amount again then instantly took it. Got it in paper and everything.

21 years old (22 in a couple of weeks), clean driving history, 17' wheels, air intake & extractors
$1070 per year + $500 excess
Who are you with? That would be a huge saving for me!

I'll keep them in mind for when my insurance is up for renewal next year.. do you have their phone number? Just tried their website ( www.customcarinsurance.com.au ) & you need a login for it.. & the main GIO website doesn't say anything about Custom Car Insurance..

I think $2950 would be a bit more than I want to spend ... could buy a new FTO in a few years at those rates.. I think I'd rather spend the $$ on accessories

I'm with Just Cars (I even think what I'm paying now is a rip off.. pretty sure this will be the last year I'll have full comp given the way Redbook prices are going ... 'tis screwed), but actually I think my excess oculd be $1000 ... normal excess of $500 & age excess of $500 .. not sure though

Got a quote of Just Car, $2700 prem and $1300 excess for $18000 cover. The reasons given were I've got minor mods (wheels, air filter and suspension), its a late model car and highest upgrade (version R) and because I live in syd. So there goes my hopes of a $1000 insurance saving.

Here's the number
1300 651 229

Just remember if you have a clean driving history, they should beat whatever just cars is giving you and it's choice of repairer. Few ppl have had bad experiences with justcars repairers (things not lining up at all etc).
