Here try this mate.

Custom car insurance. It's done through GIO and they take monthly payments plus lower excess than just cars plus choice of repairer plus the premiums are usually lower, or the same as just cars, plus they're friendly most of the time unlike justcars.
Hi :D

Thanks for that dude but I've already tried them. Unfortunately they don't insure cars in SA... Us and Tas are the only ones that miss out, but even ACT gets in :!: Figure that one out....obv we're not good enough down here in the south... :?

Then you'll either have enough to pay the insurance, or the dream will be so far out of reach you'll have no option but to forget it.
 ..i'd do that...

How long do you have on the Commodore's policy, and with whom?

When I bought my new car / sold the old one, I got my policy transferred, and didn't have to pay a cent for four months (cos that's how long the policy had left to run).

Of course, that was FTO to FTO so there wasn't any price adjustment to be done... if you transferred from Commodore you might have to pay the adjustment in premium price... but at least it would buy you a little time / save a little cost.

Good thinking Nick but Im insured with Budget Direct with the commie and cause they're really cheap on insurance, they were the first place I tried but they don't do any even remotely modified vehicles let alone imports.

Saying that though... I should get some money back from them when I cancel the policy...hey! That was a lightbulb moment... It won't be much cause my insurance (comp) with them is only $400 & something p.a. and I think I paid it in Feb, but every little bit helps... thanks for that!
