SGIO don't cover VIC?

Post by Rob Furniss »

Just phoned SGIO to let them know i've moved from WA (Port Hedland - wolf creek country) to Vic and bloody hell i'm spitting feathers, they don't cover this part of Australia, what the devil is going on?
Ringing round now trying to get a decent quote from a Vic insurer but no-one is coming near my old SGIO one of $430 :(

WA will generally be cheaper than Vic as they're probably less prone to accidents over there due to less people on the roads mate.

Fair enough then, was just gob-smacked that not all insurers cover all states, i'm still getting used to this states operating separately after almost 4 years here.

Just car quoted me 729 even with injectors, ecu and supercharger (thought i'd see what it's going to cost me once i've finished).

Will be less if you don't list your mods, but definitely peace of mind to have them on your policy so your insurance doesn't become void.

It wasn't much less without the mods, $50 I think, was quite a surprise.
RACV are coming in the same price but I didn't mention mods as they aren't fitted at the moment and i'm thinking they won't be covered any way.

Oh, that's actually pretty good then considering a supercharger setup... would definitely be doing that then.

Damn that's cheap! I could move to WA for that price.

Just Car is who I am with too. Premium of about $117 a month. 22 y.o. Male with three accidents. I have heard about an insurance company called "Enthusiast" but they need a clean driving record and history of comprehensive coverage of three years.

Lumleys are doing the business, $482 fully comprehensive with $500 excess, includes rating one protection (which i'm paying $40 for within that 482 plus an extra 50 for excess free windscreen and other glass cover). No drivers under 25 allowed to drive.
Jumps up to $676 with the supercharger on which is still cheaper than justcar who I was just about to go with.

I'm 39 and no accidents.

I'm with LSV as well. They are great, $650 a year AV of 19K for the lifetime of the insurance :)
