Mitsubishi Prototype X Breaks Cover

Post by oodLes »

Source
Mitsubishi has revealed the Prototype X, a concept version of the 2008 Lancer Evolution X. The car was first previewed with the Concept X in 2005, and is now based on the production-ready 2008 Lancer sedan.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine with over 300 horsepower. A choice of a 5-speed manual or sequential-manual gearbox will be offered. Power will make it to the ground via a S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system, featuring active steering and electronic yaw control.

Mitsubishi says the advanced technology represents the "largest leap in overall capability between two generations of the Evolution."

I highly doubt that this car will be any different to the released one, with the interior being fully finished.
It looks every bit as good as I had hoped.

Say goodbye to the 4G63 in this car too. Running an all-aluminium '4B11' engine that's apparently 20kg lighter than its predecessor.

The front styling is quite agressive, almost R34 like... :D

The headlamps look really nice. At least it kinda doesn't look like a lancer anymore.

Bad news for you Joel, the new Lancer look like that too  have you ever thought about that EVO are Lancer base, so they will always looks similar.

Apparently they are bringing out a cheap version of EVO ($45k) by using the current 4G63 Mivec engine, instead of the 4B11 Mivec. So looks like there's going to be lots of rice rockets by 2008, and that won't be healthy for those current EVO owner resell value either, as expected value of an imported EVO7-8 could go for under $20k by 2008.

Anyway few more pics, like KD said the front looks like R34 Sky.line and I say the back looks like Alfa.

All down to personal choice of course, but I very much like the new look. When some of the kids leave home, might have to trade in the Pajero for one...

Easily fixed.

Interesting look... and it does look like 3 styles combined... not a fan of how that grill works/looks... but I'm sure a kit'd fix that :D

Could have been worse

I'd hit it.

ugly as a dog on heat,

i thin ki prefer the actual lancer look to the EVO look... i dont like the side profile of the front AT ALL, there will be plenty of those things getting dinged.

i wish they'd go design a rallye car and then adapt it for the road... like the E4

sad its still only a 2L... for the looks you have to say its just sad

they have to keep it at 2L so they can keep racing it in the rallies.

and the car looks angry... not scary enough to be angry... more... grumpy lol

im not sure on it yet - but think it looks a lot better then there last few efforts which have looked boring and outdated. At least this looks is trying to be a bit more aggressive. Need to see it in the flesh though.
