207GTi and DC5R, comments please?

Hey peeps,

My FTO will most likely be traded in this week. My dad's pushing me to get a new Peugeot 207GTi yet i think a DC5 Integra R will suit my driving and modding style.

So has anyone driven both or either of these cars ? Any good/bad/opinions on them ?

& if you like small cars i say get one!

they are pretty fkn quick and have no trouble beating fto's LOL
take that from personal experience

Easy to mod and you get good results from minor mods aswell

Damnit...i loved my fto. Had no trouble with a lot of stock turbbos...this sucks.

When you said small cars...which one did you mean MissxFTO ? I'm guessing 207 GTi ? The dc5r is fairly similar in size to the fto hrmm.

Been reading some reviews on the 207gti. Some complaints about the dead steering but the car seems nice and the equipment level is good. Not like the fto had any steering info anyways, being a tourer.

Depends on what you want to do with the car, if want to mod it, then the DCR5 would have heaps of aftermarket products.

While the Pug GTi would cost you an arms and legs (compare to japs) for any performance part, just like any other euro.

Pugs have better interior and more comfy ride, while DCR5 have more raw appeal, firmer suspension setting and Recaro.

Oh the Pugs does give a less of the "rice" factor.

was reading in a magazine that the Audi S3 is a fast little car... its an AWD turbo 2.0l and went faster than the new wrx (non sti) by miles, but then so did the cayenne turbo SUV

S3 is in the same price range as the STi, so i think its fair to compare it to the STi, rather then WRX.

The interior of the S3 out class the STi by a miles for sure though.

Hrmm well i don't have enough for an S3. Might go and test drive the GTi tomorrow to put it to rest. But yeah...i kinda had my eyes on the dc5r too. Off the shelf cams and more ftw!

Test drove the GTi today...interesting. I mostly liked it but i don't think it's a car for me. It is a fantastic car though. The amount of features they give you is amazing...frigging auto everything.

Some cons...(for me, in my view)

Dead way too assisted steering
Slowish (my now almost stock fto is faster...)
Can't find a comfortable driving position
Clutch pedal is stupidly placed too high and narrow gap plus no dead pedal
Brakes too sensitive, forget about heel toeing for enjoyment
Driver sits a bit too high maybe...well it is a hot hatch i guess...

Soon as the dealer takes delivery of the dc5r, i'll test drive that and report back.

Btw, GTi would be fantastic for a more mature driver or females...i did like it, but it's not the type of experience i wanted for my next car...something more RAW!

i say DC5R...

dont really trust the Peugeot engineering...my brother has a 307 and the engine just die in the middle of driving for a few times. and the peugeot guys couldnt find out whats wrong with it....

Haven't driven the dc5r yet

dealer hasn't taken delivery of it yet. But from all the opinions here, looks like the 207gti is scrapped. Thanks peeps!

If you're looking for a stripped out race teggy...why not the dc2r ? Less work to be done, and the aftermarket bits are better for b18c7 i think ? A few Honda boys get their dc2r over the quarter in 13s and 12s in n/a form without too much work.

hmm i dont need typeR for quarter...i got my evo that does low 12s high 11s

i choose dc5r due to more rigid chassis.

and i hate the look of dc2r....
