FTO engine, in an outlander?

hello all,
im going to have a spare NONmivec FTO engine soon. i always toyed with the IDEA of dropping it into our LS 2003 mistubishi outlander.
the outlander shipped with a 1.8 ltr 4 cyl shitbox engine that was gutless in that chassis. i think the 2.0 ltr 6 cyl would give it the ooomph it needs...
but..
does anyone here know anything about the outlanders? is it going to be a complete conversion or, can i just swap it out? i have heard that EVO parts can be swapped in and out to do what they call an "EVOlander" conversion.
im hoping FTO engine is in that boat!
any one know? tim suggested checking the bell housing, but to be honest i dont know the difference between a bell housing and my bell end...

Wouldn't be enough torque in the 6A12 to justify bothering mate. Probably better off looking elsewhere me thinks. Not much point. You'd actually be getting less torque from the 6A12 - 205N-m from the factory outlander engine and down to 191N-m from the non-mivec 6A12.

Spot on Daniel, for a 4wd low down torque is more imporant than high rpm power
Put a chev in it!

Would you be able to look at something else from a mitsi? Such as a triton engine or a 380 engine?

Yeah + 1 on the dont bother. Better off with a 6G72 of some sort.

6G72 is the MK Triton motor, a lot more common than the 6G74 or 75. That being said, the 75 is the 3.8L and has mivec, used in the Pajero and 380 so there are quite a few of them around. The 74 was a Triton and early Challenger motor, and has more than enough low-down grunt (about 300odd Nm).

Just throw a GTR engine in there and you will be set. 3.8 litres of twin turbo goodness - thatll haul your ass so hard your head will spin!

Theres a 6G72 from a GTO on eBay at the moment, everything but the heads but he is parting it out

thanks guys,
i appreciate the info. the problem with bigger engines is the capacity change legalities. being a 1.8 ltr in there now, i can go up above a 20% change in capacity.
i ALREADY have an 95 GR FTO as my main car, its getting a mivec dropped in, hence the 6a12 spare.
i'l keep thinking.. might be wise to try to pick up one of the modern V6 outlander MIVEC that are floating around. (modern, lol like 2003 is ancient times)
anything has to be better than the 4 cyl.
