Hectic XD Drift Falcon!

Post by Daniel2019 »

So have a new project car (even though mine isn't finished)

March, 1981 build, Ford XD Falcon, GL base model with optional air con.

3.3L straight 6, 3 speed auto box with floor shifter.

88,XXX original KMs, original paint.

- New oil and filter
- Flushed "coolant" (lol crystals) and replaced with water for the time being until hoses are sorted and replaced, then will put coolant in (wont be run until then anyway)
- New spark plugs
- Dropped some oil into spark plug holes to lube up before starting (thanks Jack)
- New fuel (none in there, tried to drain and nothing came out?)
- Cranked it by hand by just turning fan for two revolutions (ish)
- Borrowed battery from pop's camry

My brother will have the car as a daily in basically its current form until we either decide to build it or sell it, unsure at the moment.

Anyway, pics and first start up!

All that car will do... is occupy your driveway & you *cough Gen Y!* know it

It will end up being towed back to where you found it

It's safe mate...

Don't need to tow it, it can be pushed back across the road to where it came from :troll:

And also, my last car took 12 months to get running...

This one took 4 days! :thebird:

So started up the falcon again today.

Had it running for about a minute or so and that knocking noise went away. Guessing some clogged up oil galleries free'd up or something.

But anyway, it held an idle and was happy to rev a little bit after it warmed up too. I dare say that the motor might be okay.
