Smash Repairs - Western Sydney

Post by Gholdwayne »

Ok so some guy reversed into my car while it was defenselessly parked in front of my house... Luckily that good man has taken responsibility and left a note, and now their insurance is going to pay for it, so all seems good... so far...

I have a couple of smash repairers in mind that I am going to pay a visit, but wont be able to until tomorrow arvo...

Until then, I would like to get some recommendations from you guys in regards to who does a hektik repair job around the Western Sydney area...

So frustrating, I have never had any road accidents, but somehow it seems my FTO has to have some, somehow
That's my 2nd damage and both happened while the car is parked in front of my house :?

Nah not that I've had personal experience with,
My brother has a mate that did a decent job when he smashed the calais, (he's a mech by trade though, not panel beater).

I think the other driver saw the Pedo-bear sticker and thought: 'I can't leave a fellow member like this'.

Back to topic however, how west is west?
I know a good panel beater, but he's closer to the city than anything (inner west)

Really a decent bunch of guys, right out honest and make you feel comfortable leaving the car in their hands. Assured me they'll use genuine parts, show me the old parts before they chuck em out.
This was in 2006, I'm assuming they're still there. If it's the same owners, I can't recommend these guys enough.

They cost more, but you get what you pay for (you can tell just looking at the shop from the outside, not a shoddy little repairer). So for insurance claims, definitely recommend them - Once again, just check it's the same owner.

Fixed my car when I got rear ended back in 2006.

Haha, nope, definitely not a troll. I got rear ended, was $8500 worth of damages. My tail lights, beaver panel, sway bars etc all needed to be replaced.
Here's the thread with pictures of the damage:

And this is what it looked like when I got it back:

Oh and I forgot to mention:

He was nice enough to pay me cash and let me buy aftermarket lights. Not many people would go out of their way to do it, but I was nice to him about it so he let me. Even fixed my alarm for free

By the way, Im guessing they're going to have to get me a new front bumper...

Question, is it going to be hard for them to find a new oem series2 front bumper(import or local)? I just dont want them to get me a prefacelift bar :|

They probably won't be able to get an aftermarket one since they're just the repairers. My rear bar was damaged and he told me I can get an aftermarket one of my choice and he'll reimburse me for it. I got one from carmate, it was shoddy as f*ck and wouldn't even fit on properly, so they just got me a stock new rear bar and repaired the DC rear bar that goes over it.

So if you can find an aftermarket one that you like, he'll reimburse you for it as long as you can get him a tax invoice.

Ask them though, you never know.

It needs to be a proper tax invoice however, otherwise no dice.
I'll have to provide one for the rear light garnish on my car as it's non oem and only available outside Aus.
But the go is, I buy it, pay for it, forward receipt to insurance company (or repairer) and they give me my money back.

Have a look at Western Smash as well. They're my mate's family and cleaned his car up really well after all the bush pinstriping he received offroad. A little costly, but like anything you get what you pay for.
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

until then:
1. 2001 Merc-Benz A160 (porta-loo on wheels)
2. 2007 Peugeot 307 TDi (more fun than you'd expect)
3. 2009 Mitsubishi Triton Di-D (a monster in its own right)
4. 1992 Nissan NX Coupe (club car and project car)
5. 1996 Holden SB Barina - "The Nugget"
6. 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport - The Budget Build
7. 2010 Toyota Landcruiser 76 Series - V8 Goodness... - Build coming soon.
8. 1990 Audi 90 manual - The delightfully dignified daily driver

This ^^^, IF they go along with it.

Although, from my experience, most repairers would be against replacing parts to something aftermarket. They would probably replace an aftermarket part that's listed on the insurance policy. Otherwise they'll go OEM to cover their asses.

Sucks to hear about the accident, at least the person responsible was decent enough to leave a note. :thumleft:
