Rock_it's project FTO

Post by rock_it »

OK .. Well here are the details of my baby, and the work in progress she has been .. She started as a Daily drive, and then went to being parked in the garage with the rest of the cars because it was easier to take the Motorbike to work ..

Now back to being the daily ride ...

1997 (Facelift) GPX.
5 speed Manual.
Standard interior at the moment, but I am creating leatherette seat covers, so keep an eye out
Auto Meter 52mm smoked Oil Temp gauge
Auto Meter 52mm smoked Oil Pressure gauge
Auto Meter 52mm smoked Volt gauge
Pioneer DEH-P8450MP
1xCerwin Vega V-Max 12.2 powered by a Cerwin Vega XL 300.1
Cerwin Vega HED 6x9's on the shelf
Cerwin Vega V-Max 6.5's with the V-Max 1.0 Tweeter in the front. These are powered by a generic soundstream amp
G4 adjustable coilovers.
17" wheels now matching front and rear
2 & 3/4 Inch Cat Back Exhaust with Drift 4" Cannon.
ARC Air Chamber with Apexi High Flow Pod.
G.E Electrical 6000k Xenon Light Upgrade.
Front and Rear Cusco Strut Braces.
Carbon Fibre AB style bonnet
Sniper racing Carbon Fibre boot lid
Genuine GPvR spoiler
Dwayne Special front bar
Dwayne Special side skirts
Dwayne Special rear bar (to be fitted with new exhaust)

When I first got her, she looked like this…

Some would say she looked good enough, but I was after something different…

So then entered carbon fibre…

Image
Image
Image

Add some smoked gauges for fun…

Image
Image

ARC intake and Coilovers…

Image
Image

Then came the front bar …

Image
Image

And on the fifth day Dwayne said … “Let there be matching sideskirts” …

On the sixth day, Dwayne said .. “Let there be a matching rear bar” …

Well, I have it, but just haven’t fitted and painted as yet… Still trying to decide what I do with it… And with the car… I have a bit of Ye olde roof rust, and am contemplating a full re-spray, or just doing the roof, and bar … Or, if I make the dreaded decision and sell the FTO to get something a little more family friendly .. And finish the tune and work on the Evo project… I just love this car way too much at the moment, and anytime I think of selling, I just take one look at her, and think “What a sexy looking biatch” …

Ohhh .. And on the seventh day, Dwayne rested, and we await his take on Project F rear lights…. :)
I just had to add it ......

The good thing about a black car, is they don't really notice...

I am into my 30's now ... So I tend to not really get harassed too much ... So only get pulled over for RBT's, and they have not said anything yet... Mind due, this is at night... And the car has not been a daily for a while...

When I was suspended from driving, I gave the car to FRE55H to drive... And due to the *~delightful!~* number plate recognition devices, he would get pulled up every journey .. They would mention that the exhaust sounded a little loud, but never mentioned the CF ...

I never rest. Just havent worked out how to make it happen just yet. Im thinking that you could modify stockies with a fibreglass insert (taken from a mould of the inside of the project F's). Im at a similar point with my custom bonnet atm.

Car looks great BTW!

No worries bud. If I was after another FTO id definitely throw you an offer so you could finally release the FTO and know its going into good hands.

    Unfortunately i'm not though. ha.

Once again Craig you know my feelings, looks better every time I see it.
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

    Hey champ....

Bonnet is around $1,100 off memory... I got it off UAS, who actually buy them off Car Mate. It is one of the few products the sell, that actually fits...

Facelift FTO, quite simply, is a standard FTO, but it has the GPvR front bar fitted to it... Instead of the older style front bar where it has the 2 foggies, and parker lights in the one unit...
I just had to add it ......

also interior trim pattern is slightly different, along with door inserts between facelift and pre.

And to contribute. sweet ride Craig. it's come a long way from the first time I saw it.
