6a12m engine being delivered this arvo, then all i need is to do a good major service and in it goes
-Timing belt
-water pump
-HD clutch
-scrub and a bit of paint

then in she goes as soon as thats all done.
my current motor is at 360,000kms and feels like death at the moment, i could have fixed the issue with it but i figured bigger and better is the way to go

yeh cant wait to have RP's on all 4 corners, have to buy them slow because of the 500$/corner with a semislick brand new

front is a bit meh at the moment, just 100% factory again, it USED to look neato

this is an old pic when i head my old custom made headlights.. sorta miss them a lot, but i will build a new set sometime soon

its the general designation of the 6a12 mivec (m for short) not the proper engine code but it makes it easy to know which one you are talking about
we also use 6a12g for the opposed orientation one from a galant saves confusion
or 6a1X if its a hybrid/frank motor built from the 6a13+12

so 6a arrived yesterday, didnt get much time to work on it as it was quite late
today i ordered a bunch of parts for its major service
new HD clutch and TOB, new timing belt and tensioners, cam and crank seals, water pump, throttle cable, all the wiring diagrams and workshop manuals for the 6a1X's.

things i still need to get are A/c pump and bracket, power steering pump and bracket, serp. belts, throttle body, spark plugs, and some fresh gaskets for the heads

Looking good Res,
What happened to your headlights?

And, what's wrong with the current motor?

Headlights i sold on as i was parting out the car at one stage earlier this year

And motor has a massive lag then surge in low rpms which makes it annoying to drive
Checked everything asside from timing, fuel filter and O2 sensor, but has prompted me to buy a new engine at its age

Yep good decision to recondition it, definitely. I rebuilt mine completely but that's a different story.

Like having "its all brand new" in the back of my mind :cheeky:

Good luck with it!

so, today i cleaned about 80% of the built up oil sludge and gunk and dirt and mud and leaves off the engine, ran out of the degreaser cans i had and dish soap and scourer was only going so far

found out im missing the 6 or so bolts and 2 nuts that hold the intake manifold to the splitter section so need that before doing the swap

other than that, next time i see the motor i will be confirming if i can use my cyborg short ratio gearbox with it, all signs look good but need to check,
i didnt want to take any chances, some say the 6a12 is a bit slow and lacks torque in the low end as per a norm for mivec engines, so no chances taken i want to use the shorter cyborg ratios to make sure i have plenty of torque in the low end to satisfy me.

now i just wait till the new gasket kit to come and clean it some more, reseal it, figure out the wiring and bam it goes in as soon as thats sorted so not long now, maybe by months end or mid next month depending on the time off i get to work on the motor

I know the feeling of missing bolts! Haha. When I went to pick up and pay for the engine I got, they discovered it had already been partly stripped of a few things like that. Fortunately could just reuse them from my old motor.

Progressing quickly! 8)
