Has been an eventful week.
Front winch was buggered ( winches out but doesn't winch in) so I ripped it out and sold for $70, the bloke gave me a message the next day saying he fixed it and dropped off another $100 lol top guy. ( although it's worth $800 new ) :/
Whilst there I figured I'll give the bullbar a good coat with some white rust protection paint, then decided to do the front end + underneath aswell.
Finally gathered up the cash to get the new turbo, and spent the whole day putting it on.
I didn't realise it was going to be so much bigger, the old one is a gt3076r (exact same as the xr6 turbo) the new ones a gt3540, which is the popular upgrade for the gsr's & wrexy's etc. good for over 600hp, it's running brilliant, massive noticeable increase in spooling and power. Had a run next to the fto a couple times & the lux pulls away a good 2car lengths every gear change everytime. It has a lot of torque.
Over the weekend I'm going to relocate the filter so that it connects to a ram/cold air pipe coming from the front of the car, (currently connected to the snorkel, which is pretty long and has a few bends) just to see how much better it sounds & runs.
In the near future I'm also thinking of a blow off valve that will silence it abit. To attract less attention from boys in blue.. Atm the turbo flutter can be heard from 2blocks away apparently haha

Well.. Majority of random c**nts have said the same thing.
But I have a mate that running the haltech in a couple of his cars, he's built them over the years and has a lot of experience with boosted cars ( has a 1200hp falcon & and 800hp territory as a daily).
He has garenteed %100 that it doesn't need a retune, that I should leave it at 12psi instead of this duel stage boost control sh*t, he can give me a map for for the haltech if I want to run 16. But I need to pick what of two I want to run permantly.. So yeah, I'm taking his word for it, saving my money and just going to see how it goes I guess.

It's got a big external fuel pump and bigger injectors.. But being tuned for the old turbo does that mean they will only be pumping the same amount in regardless?

If it were me, I'd get it tuned  Might be running the same amount of boost, but that bigger turbo will apply the boost at a different point in the rpm range... What's an hour the dyno worth? $150? Pretty cheap piece of mind.

At least stick a wideband 02 sensor in it & an A/F gauge so you can keep an eye on what it's doing.

Then down the track, if you've got a few bucks, you can hook the 02 sensor into the Haltech, you can do all manner of auto tune features with a wideband.

No... I would have spent that 4 hours at a wrecker getting another box

That sounds like something large has let go, like a reverse idle gear being slapped around. Broke it!
