Would have been a lot easier if the wires weren't threaded through the tray as well

Well, I passed defect even with the battery tray moving a little (only secured by one bolt). And then the cop shattered the spoiler by closing the boot with it. Gonna have to lodge a claim with the police HQ and it better be approved!

FML. Drove to the Mitsu Parts warehouse to get a quote, come back to car, turn ignition. It fires up, but immediately after the revs drop to zero again and the engine stops.

Was the spoiler damaged from before?
No offense BJK but the cop breaking it while closing the trunk lid is pretty funny :)
Must hate rice

lol, my brain was like "Did this seriously just happen". But there's a silver lining because I'm gonna bill 'em for a new one. If you see those bits of white tape and the first crack on the left that runs up the blade, that was from when someone at the mechanic's did the same thing (closing via the spoiler). But the two second breaks and those missing pieces were done by the cop. It was kinda fixable before, but now it is well and truly fucked.

Another view of it lol

This is all bad karma from any time I've bitched about other people's bad driving, considering I wrote off my first car.

So when the police officer closed your trunk and your spoiler went to pieces did he say anything?
Must've been somewhat awkward yet satisfying

Not really, no. Didn't really apologise that I recall, and certainly didn't offer to pay for fixing it. Did get the tape from the counter to secure it. But it did take me asking who I could speak to if it wasn't repairable for anything to happen.
At the time I was disappointed. But if all goes to plan it should work out significantly in my favour.

Well I got response from SAPOL basically throwing the hot potato to the police ombudsman, so filed a claim through them and now I'm waiting on a call.

In bar news the shop and I keep booking dates based on information from the dealer and the new rear bar is still not here but due this week.

Ed: bar is heeere, booked for 13th.

Throwing it up here even though it's vague and inb4takeittoamechanic.

Couple weeks back noticed a change in the engine note that sounds like it is almost constantly decelerating, not entirely unlike the burble that a pod filter gives except I don't have a pod filter. Accompanied by the revs jumping higher than usual when starting the car up. It's all infrequent though, so occasionally I can feel the popping through the accelerator pedal, sometimes not. Sometimes it idles at traffic lights still at around 1k rpm, sometimes it gets to 800 and is quiet.

Additionally power steering pump is whining, but when I pulled into the drive last night there was also a tap/rattle from driver's side bay that wasn't there when I started it this morning. Thoughts? Feelings? Bjk you're a noob?

Ed: rattle reappeared after a drive, and seems to be coming from main crank pulley? Would anything cause it to fail prematurely as it is fairly new..
