Finally back in business.

For those of you on Facebook you would have seen the struggles I had removing the nut from the alternator tensioner, boy the V6 doesn't leave much room to work with.



After almost rounding the nut with an open ended spanner I decided to call it quits and think of another plan of attack. Looked everywhere for a 3/8th drive 6 point socket (as I feared a 12pt would ruin it) and couldn't find sh*t. Ended up visiting a Repco that was selling an elcheapo GV tools set for $19.99 10-21mm or something and some other stuff. Most importantly though, they were all small and all 6 point! With some cohesion with a metal pole I managed to crack the nut and get the job done.



Alternator tensioner had a bit of play and PS was fine, hopefully I don't chew another belt and the crank pulley is all good, time will tell.

With the belts came EBC reds, excited to ditch these warped brakes and chuck some nice rotors and pads on, loved the EBCs in my GR sized brakes so I can't imagine the stopping power with twin pots

Chuffin hell that nut must have been tight to need a bar on, you're right that there aint much room to get in at it.

Yeah, fuckall space there. I couldn't find anything but a spanner to fit there and had the same fear of rounding the nut. Ended up at the shop anyway because we didn't have a tool to properly tighten the crank pulley on at home.

Reds are good sh*t (dusty though lol)

The belt squeeks on cold start which sucks, after consulting with Rob I am gonna tighten the belts a wee bit. Very hard to gauge 3-5mm for the PS and 8-12 for alt.

It is a pretty large squeel for about 2s then it disappears, odd. Someone else suggested spraying break cleaner on to pulleys to give them a clean but idk how much I like brake cleaner + belts

Eh it won't be too bad, wasn't too bad on the GR sized brakes and I had white wheels!

Yeah it was bloody tight, still required a bit of force with the bar. I was beginning to get pretty stressed about the nut and everyone not stocking 6 point 14mms alone.

I just have a socket with two flat parts grinded into it, slip the socket over the nut and then use a shifter on the groves on the socket.

Long 14mm ring spanner & you'll never have the problem again.

Neither of my Repco's had it, neither did Total Tools or Sidney(?) Tools

Huh. Our Adelaide Tools had them. Worth getting, make it piss easy (even for me lol)

Managed to score front & rear Cusco braces from Japan for about $100 posted (both), bargains.

My friend has a really nice intake he no longer wants so I will be chucking it in the FTO but I need to move the battery to the boot to do so. CAMS rules are a bit dodge, I called up and was more or less told it is up to the scrutineer on the day but if it's dry cell and clamped well it is all good; wet you could be ok with but it may need to be vented in a box. If the boot is already vented though it is fine i.e. Anything in the boot vents to atmosphere. Do FTOs have anything like that?

DGR coilovers in... In for alignment this Thursday!

Picked up the Invidia rear muffler off silvergpx, getting a 2.75" stainless catback fab'd up by a mate to match, should look the goods!

Pilot Sport 4s on RP01s (copying Pierre), got them very cheap too.

Here is how she sits at the moment:



One sway bar link has caked it so hopefully I can replace them before track, boot not split too bad.
