Mechanics in ACT

Post by kaygee »

Recently bought an Fto, i like it but every time i am attempting to fix the problems so i can register it, most of the mechanics tell me they do not attend to imports . Was wondering if anyone knows a place i can fix it in Canberra ?
Help seriously appreciated.

Total Traction in Belconnen have serviced quite a few of them.Used totake my car there when I lived in Canberra. Good at what they do,Mitsi specialists and honest.

I also heard good things about Total Traction but never had any experience with them.
Also heard good things about Techworkz (something like this) in Tuggeranong I believe.

What is wrong with the car?

thank you will probably go and see them soon.
To say the least my brakes need attention, tyres too large to pass rego, the tappets/lifter,tyre rod ends.
I fixed some of the stuff but as soon as i finish one thing something pops up, hoping to restore the car (poorly looked after by previous owner), going to live a great dent in my pocket.

ESP in Queanbeyan did my tappet adjustment and engine became really silent after that.
They also have a fairly good reputation in the tuner car scene.

Went with the car to Pedders suspension have been told it requires a completely new suspension and brakes this is going to cost me round about $3000, (can not afford it at the moment maybe in month). Is this a rip off or legit

Suspension all you need is some KYB excel gas struts, around 4-500 a set of 4, IF you need springs as well, should only be a 2-300 max (again, brand new out the box) and rotors and pads shouldnt be more than say 200 for a set of 4 each. Where they get $3000 is beyond me, thats over 2k labour (not including the money they save getting trade prices etc) for that amount of money you can get top of the line coilovers, top of the line slotted/drilled rotors, and top of the line EBC brake pads...

Which Pedders did you go to?

Capital Steering in Fyshwick is really good.

As mentioned 3K is really too much.
You can get standard type rotors for around $100 for the front pair, and $30-$50 for brake pads + fitting. Call around to get a few prices.
As for suspension, it'd be best to get them online to save some cash and then get someone to fit them (get a quote from Capital Steering).

When you are making a budget, keep in mind some small things may pop up (dust boots, bushes, bumpstops etc)
