Post by paladin »

i am currently looking for a set of 17x7 or 17x7.5's (stock wheels are tooo damn narrow!) but i cant really justafy going over the price of a set of tires to my budget :/

anyone know of anyone selling decent 17's second hand or otherwise for around 1k with tyres?

Well, for that price.... no....

You could try, http://www.tempetyres.com.au/
As a number of people of this forum have bought from there and they say it's pretty good...

Good Luck...

Sounds like you need your suspension checked (camber & alignment in particular) not wider tyres.

Depends what they were checking for.

The FTO has a slight negative camber on the rear wheels as standard, if the people doing the alignment weren't familiar with the FTO they may have put the camber back to 0.

Did they give you a print out with the readings?

Most places are not familiar with the settings for indvidual cars so they set them as close to zero as possible.

However, you want your car setup for how you drive.

If the rear is sliding out, I'd start by making sure there was a negative camber on the rear wheels (probably around 2 degrees).

The FTO is a very good handling car and to have the oversteer you speak of is quite unusual, so I suspect the previous suspension place put the camber on the rear back to 0, which would actually create some instability in the FTO, as it has a negative camber as standard.

Make sure you get a print out when done, this will show you all the various settings such as camber and caster etc.

If you're going to get bigger wheels, do it for the right reasons, loosing the backend isn't one of those reasons

OK, well the car is doing what it is supposed to then!

Putting larger tyres on, especially on the rear, will only make this worse.

basically what ever price they charge for a wheel alignment. It's just that you want yours alignment with more camber on the rear.
